Our Story Begins with a Girl
My name is Sahar Wahbeh and I am the founder of Dumyé. I have been a designer for more than a decade, from NYC to Dubai, working on everything from developing brands for resort islands to designing boutique packaging for personal care products. But the story of Dumyé begins after this designer became a mom to an enchanting little girl.
It was the holidays and I wanted to gift her a really special doll – you know that one toy that would become symbolic of her childhood. Nothing I found captured my heart, so after a trip to NYC’s garment district I dusted off my mom's vintage sewing machine, made a work space out of an old ping pong table and got to it. And I guess I just never stopped.
Dumyé has come to be a way for me to share with my daughter, what she most needs to know: marry your passions with your life's work, find the courage to fulfill your potential, respect Mother Nature, show compassion for your fellow man and understand that the real gift in life is in the giving.
My hope is that the lessons I wish to teach her will be the lessons we impart to all our children and that together we will leave them to a world that is better than the one we were born to. Welcome to the journey.
